Reason I ask is BYU may see an era where the all time scoring record which stood for 30 years will be broken not once, not twice, but potentially 3 times.
Is this style of play conducive to championship basketball? Would BYU be better off focusing on tempo, defense, and shot selection?
In my opinion it is not a coaching ability issue that limits BYU's potential but a philosophical one. BYU has yet to win a regular season or Tournament title since joining the WCC.
Recruiting is not the issue as BYU is light years ahead of every team in its league except one. At some point this should have born fruit in the form of a championship one would think.
Other than when Jimmer was here BYU has been a one and done tournament team. Losing to the Portlands, Pacifics and San Franciscos of the world doesn't help when seeds are handed out, and we all know seeding is one of the keys to advancing.
It was great to have Jimmer and Jackson on the team because Jackson covered a lot of Jimmers defensive deficiencies. Haws didn't do much on defense, and there wasn't a defensive force to cover up for that. If Jimmer and Jackson played in the WCC he would have scored 70 in a game and BYU would have at least a couple banners.
My feeling is, 5 Jackson Emerys would take you farther over the long haul than 5 Jimmers.
