the blessing of living in the country. I average about 1MBs on the speed test on a good day, and so far it has been sufficient to stream Amazon/Vidangel on low-quality.

I know some of you are wondering how I get by, but I manage.

But this Win 10 "feature" is the last straw. I don't know how it focuses bandwidth, but I logged onto my PC today (first time in a month or so) and the entire thing is bogged down. Facebook/CB loads JPGs like I'm connected in AOL in the 90s. Literally a horizontal line at a time of the photo appears. It's ridiculous. I haven't seen a photo load like that in years.

So I check my internet and speedtest.....1MB. Par for the course. I check my network status and I'm over 250mb downloaded in my short connection time and counting. All of the bandwidth is going to Windows Update. To keep me safe.

So I guess wireless connection can be set to "metered" and disable the auto-update to prevent laptop owners for accruing hundred dollar bills when connected to cell-phone hot-spots. That option is not available for Ethernet connections unless you use a registry hack.

So here I am "hacking" my registry to "fix" something that was never broken.

Part of me thinks that the more technologically advanced we become, the stupider everything gets. I can't wait for self-driving cars......Nothing will go wrong, right?
