Cream pies was great for the YW, Auction usually works when matched up with
a spaghetti dinner.
We did a free dinner last year and had every youth make a dessert to auction off along with other donated items.
Some of those desserts went for over $100.
I spent $50 on a fabulous peach and berry cobbler and another $50 to get a homemade professional level pen created by our ward mission leader (he gives them to each missionary leaving from the ward and I had to have one.) I also donated two kids bikes that were bought for $50 each at the auction...
If you get the buy in by the ward, you can make some good money.
