You conveniently forget the purpose for which Federal Financial Aid is offered:
to assist those students with zero or next to no access to another funding source. Your son has access to a source that, in the vast majority of cases, is willing to give of means to fund the education. Just because you've decided that your wealth is not for your son's education doesn't mean that the bill should be picked up by Uncle Sam.

You're like the families I deal with who plead impoverished need and beg for an increase in scholarship or grant when their EFC is sitting at the max of $999,999. Everyone is all about how everyone else should be self-reliant, but once they have to write a check, their tune quickly changes.
