That's just a sampling; there's a lot more out there. And I certainly wouldn't say each school is to blame for all their troubles -- probably they could all do things better, but when you have thousands of young people away from home for the first time and getting into stereotypical college things, bad things are going to happen and people are going to misbehave. And obviously BYU players have not been perfect -- you could dig up some articles on their misbehavior as well. Personally, I think the HCO needs to at least be completely reevaluated and restructured from the ground up (which I understand the school is doing -- or at least reevaluating for now). It seems like a classic example of mission creep/justification. But, at the end of the day, every school in the country has its issues, and while I'm obviously biased, I think BYU offers a pretty clean record comparatively speaking. Definitely unfortunate timing as far as popping up in the national news (and the story's national prominence isn't that surprising considering how much people like to read about (i) religious conservatives behaving poorly and (ii) anything remotely lurid) -- but in the scheme of things, conference alignment seems pretty silly next to things as tragic as sexual assault. That said, I hope the administration reigns in the HCO, the victims get the justice, compassion, and help they deserve, and BYU gets a Big 12 invite.
