He thinks a playoff expansion will help the Big 12? Expanding it to eight teams is basically doing the same as what the current CFP is doing now.
1- Logistically focusing on changing the CFP would take year to do and even more to implement by then it would be too late. Time is of the essence and right now you need to fix other problems because the CFP is just one of the problems they need to address not the ONLY problem.

2- Opening up three more spots means 3 other conferences have chances to put in 2 teams. This means the SEC and B1G with 14 teams have a greater chance to put in 2 teams into the CFP. This gives other conferences a theoretical 50% or 100% increase advantage over the Big 12 by adding another team to win it.

3- Big 12 only has 10 teams vs other conferences with 12-14 teams to earn a spot. This creates even more of a disadvantage especially without a CCG. Especially since 20% of the conference is completely worthless (ISU and Kansas).

4-The Big 12 hasn't won one game in the history of CFP now you think making them play three with one team will really be in their best interest? They're asking the Big 12 to subject their best team seeding which would make them more likely face a stronger opponent than in a four game system. Their round robin system makes it more likely a power team will lose and together with KU and ISU dragging down their strength of schedule will put them in a lower seeding probably every year if other teams go undefeated.

I really can no longer respect Dennis Dodd's opinions as insightful. I can admire his reporting but not his analysis.
