Question answered: BYU "deeply involved" with Big 12 schools in expansion talks.
On CB we give so much attention to small tidbits that come out of media personalities mouths with no real connection to Big 12 personas which have every assertion available on the topic. However, key news is available today that I don't think has been posted that is a big deal.

Today, there is clarity on an issue that we have spent infinite hours discussing:

BYU is in indeed aggressive talks with Big 12. TH reported to have confirmed that BYU is "deeply involved" and doing things in a manner to politically protect its relationship with the Big 12 schools as well as BYU's dignity and reputation.

I believe only one national media source echoed the same sentiment, but did not cite source of the information.

I know it comes out of a Jay Drew article at the SL Trib.... but I think this is quite likely to be accurate:

"BYU president Kevin Worthen and BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe both declined to be interviewed for this report through their emissaries to the media. Duff Tittle, BYU's Associate Athletic Director for Communications, referred inquiries to statements Holmoe made in January.

However, in a banquet on Tuesday recognizing donors to the "Coaches Circle" program that raises funds to ensure BYU's most high-profile coaches are paid market value, Holmoe assured boosters that BYU is "deeply involved" in getting its message to Big 12 schools behind the scenes, according to several people who were there."
