DC Football Fireside...my biggest regret was
not bringing a non-member friend to it...I really wish I had. Missed opportunity.

Some Highlights:

1. At the time of the Kalani hire, I was not overly thrilled. Not bummed, but just not that excited. Since the hire, I have been impressed, but tonite, the guy just knocked it out of the park. He is exactly what BYU needs right now,. He bleeds blue, he's a BYU guy. His talk was unbelieveable. The guy just has a presence and knows his audience. Very spiritual...just a great teacher. If I was a parent, I would want Kalani leading my son...no question.

2. Ty was great...told about his conversion story and how his parents sent him to vacation bible school when he was 10, and they had the kids go out into the forest and pray to God. He did and got a strong impression that God was there with him...that God was real...had a profound impact on him, and his spiritual journey continued all the was through his time in Provo...talked about how BYU was just a great fit for him at that point in his life.

3. Taysom talked about Craig Bills picking him up off the ground after the loss at UVA, and how that is representative of how the Savior picks us up when we fall. Taysom is a great kid and a great ambassodor for BYU...and a heckuva QB...

4. Ken Niumatalolo spoke and he killed it, too. He joked about how he was really looking forward to coaching Taysom...there were, interestingly, a couple of awkward moments between Kalani and Ken...no super awkward, but a little bit weird...Ken even said that he wondered why he was speaking at the event, which was sponsored by BYU Alumni - it was all said with humor, but, luckily those guys respect each other a lot. I'd take Ken down the road in a heartbeat if Kalani ever decided to move on.

5. Bronson Kaufusi didn't speak, but was there.

6. A great event. Love BYU. Love Kalani.
