It would be a Christlike gesture to relent on Sunday play.
Why? Because when we ask other schools to make changes to accommodate BYU's beliefs, it is they not us who pay the price.

So, for example, a tournament switches to a Thursday to Saturday schedule from a Friday to Sunday one then it forces students from all other participating schools to miss a day of class. If 11 other teams are at the tournament then 11 students pay a price for one BYU student to avoid Sunday play. This is no small sacrifice for the students involved.

Is it really living a Gospel principle when others pay the price? A true sacrifice by BYU sports would be giving up playing entirely and bear the entire cost themselves.

Let's make a Christlike gesture to these other schools and show them we are willing to help them. That way BYU keeps sports as a valuable missionary tool and, I believe, creates goodwill that will not go unrecognized. Isn't that how you touch the hearts of others?
