But yesterday they treated us like we had just saved their lives. The basement has a kitchen in it and a bathroom, but it's smaller than 1000 square feet.
Their gratitude for so little makes it impossible for me to feel inconvenienced.

They've had struggles that include the wife/mother suffering through her third round of cancer. She's apparently a lawyer, but her health and treatment make working almost impossible.
