Just had my first bad experience with Marriott. It was like pulling teeth.
We made a reservation at a Residence Inn a couple week before hand. We show up at 5:30 PM to check in to the hotel. The desk tells us that our room isn't ready yet and to give her a minute. So I wait 15 minutes and ask her again. She told me that I would have to wait till at least 6:15 because she can't even get a hold of anyone right now. SO I tell he I'll come back. We go get dinner and come back. Nope, still no room. Our kids usually go to bed at 8 but we didn't even get into the room till 9. Their only excuse was that they had ONE housekeeper quit that morning and that it had been busy. Then we get into the room that smells like smoke because the cleaners had been smoking at the bottom of the stairs. Finally, the upstairs electrical didn't work, half the lights downstairs didn't work, the dishwasher and ice maker were broken with the ice maker waking us up in the middle of the night with a horrible screeching sound. There was no way I was asking for another room as this one took 3.5 hours to get into. I talk to the management and they apologize but nothing more. I talk to Marriott and they say the management will get back to me. They did, with an apology email. I finally take it to twitter and get 20k points. What a pain. I'll never go to that Marriott again.
