Hi all. Longtime reader, new to posting.
(the info below is updated to last Friday. I wanted to wait and see if anything else happened over the weekend before posting-nada, so here you go):

I have talked recently with a high placed BYU admin and here's some direct thoughts from him. Take this for what it's worth:

1) he said they were just as surprised as everyone that the Big XII announced they were exploring expansion. They had an idea but didn't know for sure the vote would be going the way it did. Hopeful optimism, but also pleasantly surprised it broke that the conference will be exploring expansion.

2) he said that the Big XII has NOT contacted BYU since of of last Friday so BYU is still in the dark with the plans.

3) with that said he says he's confident that BYU will get in, in ALL sports. He said BYU has too much to offer and meets too many of Boren and Bowlsby's expansion criteria not to be the obvious top choice.

4) He thought that the "football only" rhetoric that Bowlsby referred to might have been in reference to Boise St, not BYU.

5) He thinks a decision will come very soon, and that BYU is prepared with ammo to talk to Big XII as soon as they are asked. Hence why Holmoe said today that BYU is waiting for further instructions from the Big XII.

6) As confident as he is, he's concerned about the perceived "Mormon bias" in the midwest and the fact that this bias could shake things up.

7) He didn't have any idea of whether Big XII would expand by 2 or 4.

Anyways these were the things I picked his brains about. Trust me, he would know. Don't shoot the messenger. Go Cougs!
