It was hugely disappointing to listen to her, the only US rep on the IOC.
When they asked her what the IOC would do to avoid getting themselves in a similar situation in the future, where a host city makes promises then fails to follow through, her answer was something about buying a crystal ball, and she laughed.

When they asked her if the waters were safe, her answer was that sailing teams had been down there training for a couple of weeks now, so they are clearly safe. The only detail she offered on the waters was that maybe some more barriers were still being installed to keep back some more unclean stuff.

She really had no clue about anything. More troubling, she showed no interest in seeing that things were done differently or better in the future. She sounded disinterested, poorly informed and unmotivated. Her mantra, repeated over and over again, was that the athletes would have a safe and fair place to compete. That was the only thing that mattered, and she was sure that would happen. Mike & Mike kept challenging the safe part, which she would dodge. Then she would add the "fair" part, pointing to things like doping. Yet, strangely, she didn't even acknowledge the fact that the entire drug testing system in Brazil has been deemed inadequate, requiring all samples to be sent out of country during the Olympics for testing.

She even took the time to complain about how serving on the IOC is an unpaid position, and until recently members had to pay for their own travel expenses. That may explain a lot, actually.

It was a seriously disappointing thing to listen to.
