Some observations only
There are 10 schools that have to be convinced that you are sexy enough for the Big12.

BYU has had opposition from some of the schools and you need 8 votes to get in.

BYU is the consensus school, meaning everyone agrees that it is the best school available. That doesn't mean that it is a free ride, it just means it would be an easy school to vote for.

BYU has competition from several very good candidates. UConn could take votes and be #11. Houston has Texas support and could be #12. Suddenly, BYU is out even though BYU would have been an easy vote of inclusion. All the sudden, BYU gets Baylor'd again. Remember that BYU was the consensus school until Gov. Ann Richards started lobbying.

This is war and BYU has to protect its position and press to convince 8 school presidents that it is the best available AND deserving of inclusion. Translated, that means that BYU improves the league and the revenue stream and is the right cultural fit.

BYU still has work to do.
