This might have been more true in basketball, although I don't know that the
overall trend of MWC strength and PAC12 regression would have been sustainable.
However, the MWC with Boise St added to BYU, Utah, TCU would have had a very strong top. Throw in SDSU and, some years, Fresno along with Air Force, CSU, and Utah State, and you have a pretty good football conference.
