I think it depends on which distribution center the item is located. Amazon's shipping costs must be astronomical. I can't really blame them for looking for alternative shippers when possible.

Amazon Prime has been flaky lately. I bought some items from them Tuesday night, they said they'd be delivered tomorrow.

Had the exact same experience. My Prime order didn't even ship for 5 days
