Taysom on Jim Rome recap: typed fast as I could, there's some paraphrasing
Rome: After all that's happened, what did it mean to be starting QB?

Taysom: Exciting, humbling to have opportunity to play again. Looking forward to dream to continue to play QB.

Rome: 3 season ending injuries, you get injured first half of Nebraska game again, what types of thoughts did you have?

Taysom: I was in shock, I told my wife before the game, "no way could I be unlucky enough to have it happen again" but it did and I was in shock.

Rome: What was it like to make decision to come back into the game after knowing that you were out for the year

Taysom: It was difficult, I was familiar with injury bc my BIL had same injury, I asked everybody in room and then asked wife if she was ok with me playing, and she said yes, I will support you. So at that point, I decided to do what I can. My mentality was to win for the team and be on the field with my team. It was interesting experience, every step I took there was a throb, it was hard to be in the game and focused bc my pain was so uncomfortable.

Rome: Tanner wins the game on Hail Mary, huge celebration in the locker room, but also emotional because people knew you were out for the seaseon, what was the experience like in the end?

Taysom: humbling to feel love and support from teammates, one by one they came to me to express love, BM said they would do everything to support on and off field. It was overwhelming to feel support of all of my teammates.

Rome: Venture Capitolist firm, had lots of opportunities outside football, what brought you back?

Taysom: Hard to go to games on scooter, to be a cheerleader after worked so hard, but I was happy to do it, I realized being away how much I loved football. Wife and I decided can't replicate college football senior year, nothing like it. Wife said "you have been robbed of a college experience", at that point I felt love and support and wanted to give one more go.

Rome: what will you do to keep safe (referenced bleacher repor quoted Taysom saying I'm going to leave it all out there) What's going to be your apporach?

Taysom: I've had the questions my whole career, always given the answer I thought everybody wanted to hear, which is: I'l protect my self and slide. But I know myself, and I'll definitely protect myself when I know I'm going to get hit big, but when I get on the field and there's a 3rd down to get or need to score TD, I'm going to do whatever it takes, I'm going to do it for my teammates.

Rome:So rumor has it you front squatted 430 last year, and back squatted 500 until the coaches stopped you is that true? what kind of number could you put up if coaches didn't stop you.

Taysom: My goal for max day was 600, I got to 500 and I could do it fairly easily, but the coaches saw and came over and stopped me.

Rome:could you have done 600?

Taysom: Yes, I'm a competitor, so I have to believe I can do it, but I'm not sure.

Rome: You grew up youngest of 4 siblings, your older brother Dexter passed away and you, changed your jersey to 7, to honor him. What kind of impact did he have on you?

T: I want my legacy to be that I was the ultimate competitor, I got that mentality from my brother (Dexter), he was the ultimate competitor, that mentality was instilled in me by him, by watching him play growing up. I believe that's where I got that mentality.

R: what does it mean to know inspiration to others?

Taysom: humbling, I don't take lightly, try my best to be the best representative of school family and role model on and off field
R: good luck this season.

Rome thoughts afterward: Not very often that a college QB comes off better than NFL QB. completed 12 passes after injury 35 yard run, sacked a couple of times, but thought I got to do this.
