Back from game
It's a numb feeling losing a game you had a chance to steal after completely getting outplayed by the opposition's offense. I wish we could've converted that field goal. I honestly thought we'd make it.

BSU Coaching Staff: They always do their homework and have a good game plan in big games. They were able to iso a wide out on Fred Warner from the very get go. As good as Fred is in coverage, that's a bad match up. Easy opening TD. Fred's brother could've bailed him out by not dropping the sure pick 6 on the same series.

BSU Passing Game: They had guys open. What's more, they kept hammering at BYU in the flat b/c it was worth 5 yards/pop and sometimes more. Despite 2 pick 6's, they were several levels above BYU in their passing attack. They had the right concept and overcame a great defensive play and some miscues that resulted in turnovers. But their scheme and attack made sense. When Boise stayed out of its own way, we were largely hard-pressed to stop them.

BYU Passing Game: Look, at this point, the emperor simply has no clothes. We are bad. From execution, to blocking, to achieving separation on routes and catching the dang ball, to passing....we are just not good at anything when it comes to throwing the ball at freaking BYU. And that is very sad.

Detmer has a patchwork O Line, a QB who's shaky at best in this new offense, and the WRs have the yips--no consistency at all. Then Jamaal goes down. We might not know much about how good Detmer really is until next year.

Not sure the same is true of Cahoon. His WRs do not achieve separation. They are dropping balls left and right, and what's more, they are showing poor discipline/fundamentals on some of those drops. They were soft today.

I wish we wouldn't rotate the safeties so much. I know Coach Ilaisa likes to keep guys fresh, but I also believe teams may be catching on and taking shots at Hadley and Tak. They are not the ball hawking athletes that Nacua and (sometimes) Hanneman are. I think we're over-rotating at times, and teams may be exploiting this.

Squally ran hard. Good for him. OL is trying. We are hard-nosed but not extremely talented up front, and their plight is made worse by a QB and supporting cast that can't pass or catch the ball.

Like the change in short-yardage play calling--spread them out and gash them with Taysom vs. going with bunch/heavy sets. There's a positive.

We went for a fake punt from our own 2 yard line with the first down being at the 25. No words. My favorite football team actually did that.

Sat among the season ticket holders in Bronco Central. Completely normal, and very nice folks around us. No incidents whatsoever. I know that isn't true for everyone who attended. But blanket statements about BSU fans are greatly exaggerated around here.

Most of our problem on D is injury and a lack of pass rush. The Langi experiment has turned a disruptive player into an afterthought. Pili shows potential. Tautu is decent. But by and large we have no pass rushers. It's taken a major toll on this defense.

We still almost beat a ranked team on the road. We have almost no shot of finishing ranked now, but 9-4 isn't a total pipe dream Here's hoping we can go on a November win streak.
