Regardless of how good or bad, how effective or ineffective you think Taysom is at QB, it's time to move to Tanner for the benefit of the next two years.

Taysom, IMHO, is not headed to the pros. There is no incremental benefit to him or to the team to sustain him at QB. On the other hand, Tanner has not thrown a pass in competition this year, though I believe he took a knee which sacrificed his red shirt year. Tanner should now get the benefit of the playing time that can provide him with important development and confidence in preparation for another arduous schedule in 2017.

The idea of seasoning his understanding and internalization of Detmer's offense through practice only and then starting out against LSU, Utah, and Wisconsin having not been in a game in 20 months, and still have an expectation to win, is insanely optimistic.

If nothing else, our defense will win the next four games. Loyalty now needs to shift from Taysom to the future prospects of the team. Whatever your feelings, let's face it, Taysom has been a great leader but mediocre QB this year. He has been a weak passer though his running has helped, but he has lost the explosiveness that made him special. If it was about heart and leadership, I'd give him the Heisman; but it's not.

If the 2017 season is to be successful, Tanner needs live game reps now. I think Taysom would understand this.
