Request to Byu fans from the WCC fans
This is my first post since the announcement of no expansion and I really felt bad for you guys. The big 12 looks stupid and petty and I look forward to seeing their destruction in 2025. Many of us fans had no issue with y'all leaving and putting the football in a better situation, but at least the team has looked more than competitive against quality competition, although that 4th down punt was probably the dumbest play call I've ever seen. It does look like for the next decade at least Byu will be in the WCC and while the competition will be great, there is an issue many of us fans do have with cougar fans; high school gyms.

Here's the thing, we know that the whole (high school gyms) thing is a knock on our basketball courts. And Byu fans are literally the only ones who says it. I really want to know why the capacity of our courts matter to everyone? We're a mid major conference with mid major budgets and make do with what we can. Gonzaga of course has more money now but why change the Kennel? In every ranking of top environments to play the Kennel is ranked among the highest, even with just 6000. Adding more seats just takes away the mystique of the environment that we're so proud to have . Duke holds only 9,300 and the national champion Villanova has a high school gym of only 6,500, but I bet Byu would switch histories with those two programs in a second.

At the end of the day it should never be about the quantity of the fans in seats but the quality of the team out there. I would rather root for a nationally recognized program with a low capacity seating like my Zags than an NIT year in year out program like many of the P5 schools. It's great that Byu has 20,000 fans at home but does it really matter if they lose to Pacific. Crowd sizes doesn't win you championships or national respect or get the recruits that you really want... it's all about winning.

There's a perception of Byu fans that they feel as if they're better than everyone else and that they look down on people and I have to admit, I had those concerns at the beginning of 2011. But many of us fans have enjoyed the great interactions with you guys. There are plenty of things to complain about in the WCC like the officiating, and the lack of competition and storylines. However, comments about the "high school gyms" when considering the differences in resources Byu benefits from compared to the others does reinforce those negative stereotypes you guys have about yourselves.

I've defended Byu fans before and will continue to do so but this is one legitimate gripe with you guys that not only zag fans have, but the other fans have as well, because it does make you feel like you're superior to us and I know y'all are better than that. But at the end of the day whether the game was played in front of 5,000 fans of 50,000, the win still counts to same and that's what we should only be talking about.

Good luck with the rest of the football season and basketball it just up ahead.
