Why not declare that now is the start of next season and only play players who will be here next year (including Tanner). That way we get to tune up for the "real" season just as all the P5 schools do - only our "real" season starts in September of next year. It would make November bearable as we would be looking at the team that is going to carry us in the meaningful games next year. I know it would suck for this year's seniors who are counting on getting their time in, but after that it would even out because seniors would be playing a half season earlier than normal.
