for the majority of cases, though, the military also owns the doctors
that keeps doctor costs way down compared to having to pays civilian docs and their profit/overhead

the military also benefits from an exceedingly healthy population compared to the general public. yes, we have combat injuries, but those are a very small portion of the health care issues faced by the military.

otherwise, we are much less obese and more likely to work out regularly and none of us remain in the military beyond about age 60. all those benefits to the military single-payer system will be nonexistent in the general public.

one of the biggest money problems the military is facing now is the health care costs of retirees who are living longer and longer and must often be cared for through the civilian sector which is expensive or through the VA system which is horrible.
