What I do
I'm maintenance myself. I'm in Utah, but at first I experienced what you are.

This is what I do now, I go to a family doctor. He writes me a 90 day Warfarin prescription that I can refill for a year.

He also writes me a recurring (that's not the official word but it is something like that) prescription to have my blood tested. In my case I take to the hospital lab and they send the results over to the doctor. They call me with results and tell me to modify as necessary. The current hospital will keep the blood work Rx for a year, a different one kept it Rx for 6 months.

In my case, my insurance covers the lab work.

I get new Rx at an annual checkup. My numbers haven't changed in years, so I keep the same prescriptions.
