I buy a pair every other year so that I can rotate through shoes and they last longer. You can find a really nice pair for <$250 during the sale. I keep shoe trees in them and they still look brand new after many years.

I also found a pair of leather soled shoes on sale at Banana Republic for $60 that I wear about once a week when I'm not wearing a suit. They've been surprisingly good shoes.
