An audit of what amounts to a public multi-million dollar institution
(the athletic department) is an embarrassment?
Or when you said "wouldn't it be nice to support the flagship public university" you really meant, "wouldn't it be nice if they turned a blind eye and were never held accountable?"
If you wanna be Penn State, be my guest.
EVERY tax-payer funded institution should be ready for an audit any given year. It's smart oversight. It's not an embarrassment.
And when your basketball coach says "I'm going to take $80,000 and buy out the BYU contract." on public TV, guess what: That's an audit trigger. It's life. Just like if I were to report no taxable income on my taxes this year: It's an audit trigger.
The only thing embarrassing is how the Utes don't "get it".
