Yes, but I think that also...
...the film was trying to somehow illustrate how she came to experience time.

I think that the point of the movie/book was that our perception of time is greatly influenced by our relationship with language, and that perhaps it is possible to perceive and even experience time totally differently if that relationship with time was able to be altered in a specific way.

There are actually some interesting eternal questions lurking in that premise.
