For me there definitely have been times when once a month campouts were too much to ask, but a few years ago I was in a different phase and going every month was a blast. This sounds like a big consideration in your case, and something worth discussing with your wife and the bishopric. Maybe you could stick around as an assistant scoutmaster with the understanding that you would go on every other campout and will not be available for scout camp, something along those lines. Or maybe it's time for a change to something that fits your circumstances better. No shame in that.
