Hans made a comment on the radio about some of the real reasons Taysom started
over Tanner. I believe he was talking to DJ/PK and they asked if BYUs oline will be able to give Tanner enough time for BYU to make a jump in the passing game this year.

Hans basically said no at this point he doesn't think BYU has the pieces in place. These WRs need more time to get open and BYU hasn't shown it can give Tanner the time. The WRs are quick and shifty enough to get open fast so it creates a problem. She said he was told that's part of why Taysom was the starter instead of Tanner. Like they didn't want to throw Tanner to the wolves and get him killed. Taysom could create some of his own time in the pocket or outside for that matter.

I do feel like our oline will be better this year. Lots of experience coming back on the inside. Run game should be solid. Do we have the tackles to help with pass rushes? Not sure. Our first month and a half will be brutal with solid rush DEs. I don't have a ton of confidence in our ability to have a solid passing game. If our experienced WRs couldn't get on the same page of our SR QB and gain some chemistry with the WRs on all these option routes, will Tanner make a difference? He is more accurate and will be a far better passer than Taysom, but I have my doubts.

Here's to hoping our defense can give us short fields and our run game can produce for us.

Apparently this concept is hard to grasp. OF COURSE no one predicted 9 wins (SandYFan, Mar 2, 2017 at 8:46pm)
