there is a small control dam on the Jordan River that regulates how much water
can be let down the river to Salt Lake. The compromise level was set in the 1800s. If the dam is destroyed the level of Utah lake would drop by about 50% and downtown Salt Lake at times would be part of the Great Salt Lake. Of course over the recent years the Great Salt Lake is down so much that it probably wouldn't hurt anything.

People forget that Provo is higher in elevation that Salt Lake and thus closer to God
