and it was ALL kinds of surgy. Buddy and I were getting thrown around like rag dolls down there, and we tumble into a clearing in the kelp, there are a couple of seals, not even a-movin'. They weren't aggressive towards us or anything, matter of fact the adults didn't even pay any attention to us, as I'm sure they see divers all the time. The pups sure were interested in us, though, nipping at our fins and stuff.
But I came away from the experience realizing if one of those things had a mind to, they could mess me the heck up and I wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. I'm helpless but to be thrown around by the surge, and these things, bigger than me, make it look like the water is crystal calm around them.
At the end of the dive, we were following the sandy bottom up to the beach, and my buddy looks back, grins at me (you could see it in his eyes, the punk!) and gives me the "turn around" sign. I do, and I'm nose to freaking NOSE with one of them that had followed us a bit. I about swallowed my reg. Fun times.
