Question about being blackballed by former employer
I did some contract work about seven years ago for a fairly small company in AZ. They contracted me out to work for Boeing on the Future Combat Systems program. It was a 6 month contract that was extended multiple times. At about 22.5 months the company notified me that Boeing had decided to extend another six months.

Two weeks later the Army canceled the program after seven years of development (and billions in taxpayer money). My contract was terminated with on a Thursday with no notice.

On Saturday, the company owner called me at home and said Boeing wanted to reinstate the contract and that I needed to be at their Huntington Beach facility before 9am on Monday, which I did. Boeing and some of the FCS subs had decided on a 6 wk last ditch effort to get something working so that perhaps they could get the Army to continue to throw money down the FCS (aka BCT-M) rat-hole.

When I tried to gain access to the network, I was locked out. Boeing had canceled my account and access. I let the boss, whom I had just met know, and he told me to use a co-worker's account and password to gain access. One of the big things that they warned us about when I got on this project was that, per DOD requirements, no one on the management team had the authority to permit anyone to bypass the security system. Doing so would be prosecute as a criminal act.

I asked the new boss to show me the written authorization to violate the DOD regulations. He got pissed and told me to wait a few hours and Boeing would get things reinstated. I waited at my assigned computer the rest of the day. Left about 6 pm to check into the hotel. I got a call from the company owner about 7 pm telling me that the contract had been terminated and to return back to AZ. I did that the next day since it was too late for me to change flights.

Everything seemed fine. The owner didn't indicate that he had a problem with me following the written security guidelines. I went my merry way and have worked other places since then.

Yesterday, a head hunter submitted my resume to that small company for a position where I meet/exceed every single job requirement. When the head hunter spoke to their HR person, she was told that I would not be "considered" because their records indicate that when I worked for them seven years ago, there were "issues".

As I have thought about this, I realized that someone at Boeing probably realized that if they terminated the contract (of a 23 month contractor), after one day on a "resurrected" contract, for no reason, they would probably still have to pay for the agreed upon 6 weeks. The easy way out of their contract would have been to make a false accusation against me to the small company.

I work in Texas and am trying to get back to my home in AZ. Do I contact the owner to get this resolved, or just write it off? I have now idea if this false derogatory information has gone beyond Boeing and their small buddy company.

BTW, the 6 week girls camp in Huntington Beach failed miserably.
