The reason for a late surgery start time is the surgeon is late. Now in speaking of turnover times between cases, 40-45 minutes is not acceptable. Is that from when they leave the OR to when they go back in with the next patient? If so, that is way too long and shouldn't exceed 20 min. Sometimes surgeons count turnover time as the time they are done with their part and walk out and then let the PA finish closing and dressing the wound.
