Let me throw out some names: Hector Lebron, Ossie Antonetti, Jonathan Alleman, Mike Wall, Fernando Pessoa
Carlos Moreno...I could go on. None of these guys were as physically talented or imposing as the players we have now, but they all worked hard brought it every match, paid attention to fundamentals, and won championships.

I remember when someone mentioned to McGown that Hector Lebron (the setter on the '99 and '01 championship teams) looked like he was 6' 1" and muscular, he replied by saying, "No he's not! Hector's 6' and fat!" It was kind of true at that point, but despite the fact that physically Hector was nothing compared to the setters we have had in the past 5 years he is probably the best setter we have ever had. His leadership skills were beyond anything we currently have, and his placement and decision making were unreal.

Antonetti was a 6' 1" outside that had a monster vertical and just outplayed everyone. Physically, Mike Wall was an average 6' 4" outside, but he probably had the biggest competitive drive I've ever seen, and he won a championship and a Final Four MVP. Pessoa worked like crazy to move from being a very good libero to a dynamite outside and it showed by the way he played.

I could go on and on. The team we have now, and the one last year, is probably the most physically gifted team we have ever had. It's sad that they haven't put in the work on passing and fundamentals. It's sad that they just don't have that drive. Physicality isn't everything.
