that some church members have declared (i.e. That caffeine is against the word of wisdom). I'm opposed to cultural pseudo-doctrine in all its forms.

I don't need caffeinated drinks (I try to avoid soda in general nowadays) but I just dislike that we're accommodating a minority opinion that's not doctrinally supported.
