BYU seems to be in a unique position for non-starters and desire to transfer...
We are right in that no-man's land. Good enough to compete to possibly get into the tourney, but not consistently there...and unable to win multiple games in the tourney when we make it. Our subs see they can either go be subs on bigger teams and fight for minutes, but have a chance to be on a tourney team regardless. Or, they can go to a lower tier team and be a starter. What are the reasons to stay at BYU unless it is just because it is an LDS friendly environment?

Bigger schools might have lower tier guys bail on them...but big deal. They have hundreds of options to replace them. BYU has limited ability to bring in role players that are good enough for some minutes, but perfectly happy being role players off the bench.
