Good luck to Taysom, Jamaal, Harvey, and the rest of the BYU guys on draft day!
It's really amazing that these guys aren't rated higher. Despite Taysom's injury history, he seems to be fully recovered by the numbers, posting a better 40 time, long jump, and vertical leap than McCaffery AND AT 20 LBS heavier, and I really doubt that McCaffery could even be in the same zip code as Taysom's squat and bench press numbers, yet McCaffery (who I think is amazing also) is projected as a top ten pick. What gives??

Granted, Taysom has had some freak injuries that may make some teams gun-shy, but IMO, those injuries are not like some ACL's or bad shoulder injuries that can make it so that the player is never the same again. The Lisfranc had that potential, and may have slowed Taysom this last season, but by the looks of his draft workout numbers, that issue could possibly be put to rest. I'd take 4.44 in the 40 at 221 lbs any day, especially with Taysom's numerous intangibles (leadership, competitiveness, intelligence, drive, guts), possibly the best intangibles of any BYU player I can remember. Regardless, even if teams are nervous about the injuries, if you could get Taysom without much risk as a late rounder or free agent, I would consider that the best FA pick-up of the year BY FAR, and possibly ever.

Personally, I still think Taysom is going to surprise a lot of people, including some on this board. Even if he doesn't ultimately play QB, I would love to see that speed and those power-squat legs driving players backwards as a safety or LB. Or, wouldn't it be fun to actually see what a healthy 4.4 and 220 lb Taysom could do when he can line up in the backfield as a RB, and actually peruse the field for weak spots / seams (with his QB knowledge), and then actually get a head of steam prior to an actual DESIGNED RUN, as opposed to just improvising on the fly, and running for his life?

Anyway, other players who are way under-rated include Harvey, Jamaal, Kai, Tautu, and others. Harvey, without the injury history, but otherwise like Taysom, also has a better 40 speed, athleticism, and strength at similar weight and height than numerous LB's and DE's projected to go in the first two rounds (but just from teams like Alabama or Florida). The whole thing's become WAY TOO MUCH of a popularity contest. Jamaal I predict will eventually out-perform the vast majority of the RB's projected above him, if he gets the chance, and both Nacua and Tautu could be amazing NFL players, as well as some of the other BYU guys. There's not much separates these players at this level, IMO, except that some get more of a chance to fail and succeed than others - just ask Jimmer. All it really takes is a chance, kind of like Daniel Sorenson got in KC.
