Invitations were received by many players on Friday. Pierce reports Mika "wasn’t on initial lists that circulated on Friday and early Saturday — suggests he may have been added after top prospects declined to participate, as they traditionally do." If this is true, Eric just barely made the cut.

Typically, the top lottery prospects believe the Combine would do nothing to enhance their standing in the draft, thus they usually skip it, and focus on workouts with individual teams.

We trust that Eric knows BYU fans have truly mixed emotions on this. Hope and excitement for next year would soar if Mika returns in light of the unexpected roster enhancement of Zac Seljaas and the explicit Dave Rose commitment for system change on offense and defense. On the other hand, we extend full support to Eric in his quest to become a successful pro because he is such a stellar representative for BYU.

IMO, Mika's interest in moving on has to do with rational choices that have little or nothing to do with the quality of the program at BYU. Rather, it's about staying in college or going pro. Looking unsettled at the moment.

So Eric, to put BYU's fans' feelings in perspective: we understand if you decide to go pro and will cheer you on, but it would bring unrestrained joy to Provo if you stay home just one more year.
