This weekend the baseball team goes 0-3 against Gonzaga, giving up 10 runs twice, and getting outscored 26-8 in the series. The womens team goes 0-2 against Utah, giving up a lead late in the first game, and not showing up in the second. So, in games that really matter, we go 0-5.
Part the problem is that BYU teams crack when the heat is on. This may be because we have a pretty-much drug-free culture. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs either for recovery or energy, and that may be part of our problem.
It may be that our teams are used to great fan support at home. Not having that support on the road (where all games were this weekend) may be part of that.
It may be that we are not as well equipped as we could be. BYU does not pay market rates for talent, even though it could (and should). What if we had paid market rate for Whit back in 1994 when it was clear he was a good coach? UU football would be way different today.
Go Cougs!!!!!!!
