Is it OK to say that I'm concerned about the offense?
I think the BYU defense will be solid this year. In fact I think it will be more than solid, and that's the primary reason I'm excited for the upcoming season.

But I've got to tell you, I'm concerned about the offense. I know it was Detmer's 1st year as OC, in fact his first year as OC at the college level. So I expect improvement. Howver, losing Jamaal Williams is a huge blow to the offense. And so is losing Taysom Hill. I was very impressed with Tanner Mangum his freshman year, but, frankly, I wasn't that impressed with him last year. We've all heard stories that Tanner wasn't picking up the Detmer offense as quickly as Taysom. That was concerning to me. I hope there has been a lot of improvement in that area in the off-season.

Hopefully, Detmer will be better in year 2 than year 1. Hopefully, Tanner will have mastered the offense by the time games roll around in late August. And hopefully, the stable of running backs can, if not replace, offset the loss of Jamaal. But those are all just hopes at this point, without much to base them on. I hope this will be a very good season, and the offense will take a big step up. But at this point, I have a hard time seeing it happening.

What am I missing? I'm looking for help to boost my confidence.
