BYU could end up top 20 in Director's cup standings.
We are currently #20 in the nation...

FYI, they've changed the scoring for the Director's cup so that, going forward (not this year, but next year) that only 19 different sports can count toward the ranking (was 20) and that Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, and Women's Volleyball have to be 4 of those 19 chosen sports. http://www.nacda.com/sports/directorscup/spec-rel/050417aaf.html?wappref=std

Looks like we're going to be picking up points in 6 different sports still pending (pretty sure I can project some of the points totals too from looking at last year's summer/final tallies):

Softball: Runner up for regional should give us a ranking of 17th ... good for 50 points.
Baseball: At least 25 points (for coming in 3rd of 4th in regional) ... 50 if runner up ... 64 or higher if we win the regional.
Women's Golf: Finished 12th of 18 in regional (4 regionals). That should end up with a ranking of 48th ... good for about 23 points.
Men's Golf: Took 8th out of 13 in regionals (5 regionals). Should put them around 40th... another 30 points there.
Men's Track: We qualified quite a few for nationals... with some medium to long distant runners being among the top nationally. I don't fully understand the scoring, but I would assume that we do better in Eugene than last year where the Men got 36th place for 33 points and the women too 43rd place and 30.5 points. If I had to guess, I would think that the track teams end up with a combined total of around 75-85 pointsthis year.
Women's track: See above. Shea Martinez Collinsworth should be an All-American and podium placer.

So, if my tallies are correct, we should be looking at 210 points from those that haven't yet been tallied, bringing the Spring/Summer total tally to 300 (90 points for taking 2nd in Men's VB) ... well above the 228 Spring/Summer points we got last year. That would give us ~714 points (or even more if the Baseball team and/or Track teams over-perform.) It all depends on how other teams just above/below us do in this final stretch, but things are looking good.

For reference, last year we finished 30th in the nation which was higher than any year since 2007's ranking of 26th. I think we beat out that 2007 ranking this year. Would be nice to pull in a ranking in the teens. Can you imagine if we got some points from either/both of the Basketball teams this year?

Tom Holmoe and the AthDept and the coaches and the players (and even the students and the fans) are all doing a great job supporting and sustaining a stellar athletic program at BYU.
