If the QB is on point then he will make the WR & OL group look better...
...than they are, same holds true for the RB group.

Taysom often held the ball longer than he should have because he wasn't confident in throwing to a spot on the field without a WR being there already. For this reason it was hard for the OL to block for him because they had to hold their blocks a lot longer and often without knowing where he was and which direction he was scrambling (the OL need eyes in the backs of their heads). A lot of the sacks Taysom took weren't the fault of our OL.

Go back to John Beck's senior year and re-watch the 31-17 win he engineered for BYU over TCU. They had tight coverage all game long on our receivers yet Beck was amazing throwing in precision timing through the tiniest of windows and was hitting receivers in the numbers the second they made their break (they weren't open long because the coverages was so good). The TCU secondary was really frustrated and had not faced a QB like him all season. If that was any other QB running the show we would've been slaughtered (like we were in the Max Hall years). John had 2 gifts that no other BYU QB has had in a long time. He was a student of the game and had a quick release with good velocity.

During his senior year it all came together for him and he avg'd around 2.2 seconds release time on his throws (time from the snap to throw). That's incredible. I don't know how sharp Tanner will be this year but I think he's got a position coach who has a gift for being a student of the game and I expect some of that to rub off on Tanner, plus Tanner has a better than avg arm. Whether he can be John Beck good remains to be seen but he will be good in this offense and as he starts to "get it", he'll make his WR's, OL etc look better.
