Being independent, BYU is constantly in need of proving themselves to the P5's if they ever hope to win a spot with them. So the only question that concerns me is which contract would help improve our chances of building our reputation. The obvious knock on our 1 and 1, is that it looks like we don't have very much bargaining power. We want 1 and 1's with P5 programs, not Liberty. However, I think this concern is not as large as the need to have a strong schedule. If we can perform well against a difficult schedule, then that will help our program's reputation more than getting a 2 for 1 with Liberty. All that being said, I would prefer only having to play Liberty twice. This way we have allowed our program the chance to schedule a better program for that would-be third game.
