If your flight leaves at 8, I would suggest getting there no later 6:40 ish. I've been caught in 20-30 minutes lines twice this past 8 months or so.

Security usually takes 10-20 minutes when I have flown out of SLC.

That time is the peak time. Lines are a mile long even in terminal 2
