Are you sure the compressor is actually turning on?
It could be the start relay has failed. The start relay sits on the compressor and the clicking could be the relay.

Fridge not cooling. Compressor clicks on but won't stay on. Any ideas?

Are your kids not closing the door completely? Is the heat sink frosting up?

it turns on but then turns off, I kind of think it may be the switch relay

Had similar issue. Frost was building up on the fan so it couldn't turn
