Video inspection of the honey bee swarm I caught last week. Queen bee close up
Not sure if you guys have ever seen a frame of bees with the queen walking around...Also, as more proof that honeybees are pretty docile, I don't wear gloves while handling the bees. Most beekeepers don't care if they get stung, but when it comes to my face, I am ugly enough, so I don't want any beestings on my face and almost always wear protection.
Went over to my friends house where I placed the nuc box with the swarm I caught (the video I posted a week ago). Sorry again for the bad videography...hopefully practice will make perfect someday. A couple of interesting things:
If you are a "find waldo" kind of guy, watch carefully when I talk about the queen cup that I found. If you look on the frame, you will see the queen bee walking around.
If you like to go to the end of the chapter where you get the answer, at the 4:40 mark (or so) we point out the queen in vivid detail.
I only wish I could show on video the eggs we found. They are hard to see with my old eyes and given my videography lack of skills, I can't imagine having success on the video...I was still pretty happy to find them. When we caught the queen, we were pretty sure we saw her go in the box. Glad to find evidence...and she looks like a good one.
