Cruise control is great on the hwy if you're trying to maximize mpg
I use daily on my 30 mile commute and it really makes a difference in mpg; +2-3 mpg consistently over me driving manually. But, I go in early at 5 AM and the freeways are wide open. I don't have to worry about traffic. I come home before the evening rush gets bad too. For me, cruise control is real $$ saver.
