No doubt. I wish I had the crystal ball view on how that 1st movie woulda flown
minus the soundtrack.
I think it woulda done okay, but wouldn't have been remembered beyond a few years. His characters were definitely as unique as they were likable -- but not in any way that went deeper than novelty. And I still think subsequent writing proved his genius was either temporary in that regard -- or just pure beginner's luck.
