the film was way overbudget and Fox execs kept worrying it would be a flop. They felt like it had cost too much already. Especially after George told Lucasfilm the special effects weren't good enough. They had to start over after a good portion of the budget was spent. George kept pushing back on the studio to get the last 1/3 of the film. He eventually ended up in the hospital due to dehydration and exhaustion.
