Here is the other problem:
1. Any text that goes out for iMessage users now counts as a text. Not important if everyone has unlimited text - but there is inevitably always someone who doesn't.
2. There also seems to inevitably always be someone using iMessage without cellular service or someone has SMS turned off because they use iMessage with their data.
People ALWAYS complained when I had my windows phone. It doesn't matter whose fault it REALLY is. The people I'm group texting don't care. All they know is that Im the only one who doesn't have an iPhone, so I get the blame when certain people in the group aren't getting messages for whatever reason. The moron who has weird settings on the iPhone never gets the blame.
