Michigan started the season with Harbaugh at QB. They started the season ranked #14
They got as high as #3 after beating #1 Miami in early September. They were ranked into October until injuries (i.e. Harbaugh) killed their offense. 4 of their 6 losses were to ranked teams: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_Michigan_Wolverines_football_team
